Alumni

Congratulations to all of our graduated alumni! We miss you all! And look forward to those returning as mentors!  Our first alumni graduated in 2005 and we are proud of all that have graduated since!

Keith Kearns was an alumni from our 2006 season and was heavily involved in the team. Sadly we lost Keith in February of 2009. We have dedicated a page to him here


2014 Alumni

  Mo Elhelw - Mo was a Team Captain, did Strategy, and was a Chairman's Presenter all 4 years. He is currently attending the University of Buffalo for Biomedical Engineering. 
   
  Jonathan Griswold - Jonathan was on the programming subteam all 4 years. He is currently attending the University of Buffalo for Engineering.
   
  Kieran Irwin - Kieran was on the Marketing and Strategy subteams. He is currently at Monroe Community College for Engineering.
   
  Austin Lee - Austin was on the Programming subteam. He is studying Game Design at the University of Advancing Technology in Arizona! 
   
  Brianna Mancine - Brianna was on the Mechanical subteam all 4 years. She was also on Pit Crew. She currently attends the Rochester Institute of Technology for Civil Engineering.
   
  Ciana Robertson - Ciana was on the Mechanical and Strategy subteams. She was Coach on the driveteam. She is currently attending Wentworth Institute of Technology for Biomedical Engineering.
   
  Gabe Rosenberg - Gabe was on the Mechanical and Strategy subteams. He was an auxilliary driver. He is currently attending University of Buffalo for Psychology.
   
  Shayna Rudy - Shayna was on the Field, Electrical, and Controls subteams. She was on Pit Crew and was a Chairman's Presenter for 3 years. She currently attends the Rochester Institute of Technology for Packaging Science.
   
  Kyle Zeller - Kyle was one of our non-Penfield students, coming from Marion, NY in Wayne County. He was a Chairman's presenter, and he was on the electrical and programming subteams. He is currently attending SUNY at Oswego for Computer Engineering. 

 


2013 Alumni

Matt Barno - Matt was on programming and was our first ever Thunderbolt mascot! He is currently attending Monroe Community College for engineering.

 

 

 

Justin Byers - Justin was on the programming subteam for all 4 years and was Programming Lead. He was a 2012 Dean's List Award Finalist at FLR. He is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for Computer Engineering.

 

 

Jacob Kremer - He was on driveteam in 2012 and 2013, and was on mechanical and leadership subteams. He was Team Co-Captain. He is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for engineering.
   
 


Elizabeth McChesney - She has been affiliated with 1511 since her brother Cuyler was on the team! She was on the mechanical subteam and is currently attending the Monroe Community College for Biomedical Engineering.

   


Matthew Mlodzienski - He was on the mechanical subteam and pit crew. He is currently attending Drexel University for engineering.

   
Tommy Murphy - He was on the programming subteam, Leadership, and was a really good dancer at competitions. He is currently attending Monroe Community College for engineering.
 

 

Alex Rozanov - He was our human player in 2013, was on the electrical subteam, and was our juggling entertainer. He was also on Leadership and was Team Co-Captain. He is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for Industrial Engineering.

 

 

 

Nathan Smith - Nathan was on our mechanical subteam and was our scouting lead at competitions. He is currently attending Monroe Community College for Engineering.

 

 

 

Ben Stoeckl - He was on mechanical for 4 years, working many long hours. He is currently attending Monroe Community College for engineering. He has also come back to help us this build season!

 

 

David Vaca - David was our first ever exchange student from Ecuador. He did a variety of activities on the team, which inspired him to major in engineering at the University of Mexico.

 

 

Alex Wolf - Alex was on theteam for 9 years, working with his dad, Mr. Wolf, one of our main Mechanical Mentors. He became our CAD guru. Before heading off to Michigan State University to major in a medical science field, Alex taught a summer CAD class to our team.

Alex Ceci - Alex was on our programming subteam for 4 years. He is currently attending the University of Buffalo for Computer Engineering.
   
Mollie Corrigan - She joined the team her senior year and was on the Marketing subteam. She is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for Mechanical Engineering.
   
Matthieu Dora - He was on our Marketing, Media, and Leadership subteams. He was highly involved in the reworking of our website in 2012. He is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for Aerospace Engineering.
   
Jason Kuberka - He was our Team Captain and Field Subteam Leader. He was on leadership for 3 years. He was also highly involved in the reworking of our website in 2012. He is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for Civil Engineering.
   
Andrew Melnick - He was on our programming subteam for 4 years and is currently attending Kettering University dual majoring in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. He is currently interning this semester at Harris, our main sponsor, and is back as a full time mentor!
   
Mike Montelmalo - Mike was on the Mechanical subteam for 4 years. He helped develop our safety program. He is currently attending St. John Fisher's College for Mechanical Engineering.
   
Kyle Schuhart - He was a Chairman's Presenter in 2010 when we won in Boston! He was also on our Marketing and Leadership subteams focusing on Public Relations. Funny enough, he is studying Public Relations at Monroe Community College.

2011 Calvin Calvin Drake -Calvin is attending the University of Southern California studying Interactive Media. He was on the Programming subteam for 4 years and our Chairman's Presenter in 2009, when we won at the Chesapeake Regional.
   
2011 Mike Mike Hartman - Mike is currently attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He plans to major in some form of engineering, perhaps taking on 2 or 3 majors. He was part of our student leadership team and the Electrical Subteam. He was also Safety Captain from 2008 - 2010.
   
2011 Rachel Rachel Joram - Rachel is currently in Pittsburgh, PA at Duquesne University studying Nursing. She was on the Electrical Subteam. She was also a Chairman's Presenter in 2011, when we won at the Washington DC Regional.
   
2011 Jonathan Jonathan Piacentino -Jonathan is currently studying Biology at Nazareth College. He was on our Electrical Subteam.
   
2011 Alex Alex Vadas - Alex is studying Graphic Design at Kent State. He was on our mechanical subteam for 4 years and was our Human Player in 2010.
   
2011 Crystal Crystal Vongnaphone - She was the 2010 - 2011 Team Captain and on the Electrical Subteam. She was also the creater of our 2010 and 2011 Chairman's Videos and she was a Chairman's Presenter in 2011, when we won at the Washington DC Regional. She is attending Columbus State Community College for Aviation Maintenance Technology.

2010 Theo Theo Matt - Theo is currently attending Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He is majoring in Civil Engineering. He was our primary driver for 3 years and 2009-2010 Team Co-captain.
   
2010 Becca Becca Hasmann - Becca attended Texas A&M University and was enrolled in the Corps of Cadets. She was our secondary driver for 2 years and 2009-2010 Team Co-captain.
   

2010 Shauna

Shauna Richards - Shauna is currently interning at NASA in Houston, TX and attending the University of Buffalo. She is majoring in aerospace engineering. She is currently interning at NASA. She was on our drive team as a human player and coach for 3 years.
   
2010 Mike Mike MacNally - Mike is currently attending Monroe Community College in the 2+2 program where he will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2012. He is majoring in computer science. He was one of our webpage designers and programmers.
   
2010 Tresten Tresten Rosati - Tresten is currently working as an auto mechanic. He hopes to gain some real world experience before he heads off to college to major in Mechanical Engineering. He was our secondary driver during competition. Tresten was mainly on the Mechanical subteams.
   
2010 Kristina Kristina Kohl - Kristina was on the Mechanical subteam. She is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She interned at Ilion Firearms for Remington.
   
2010 Karen Karen Wilson - Karen was on the Flare subteam. Karen is currently attending Nazareth for Drama.
   
2010 Alexis Alexis Buckley - Alexis is currently attending Monroe Community College. She has been associated with 1511 since her older brother joined the team in 2005.

2009 Josh Josh Goodman - Josh has taken part in 1511 Robotics since his freshman year in 2005. He went from being the small kid who carried the printer, to the Team Captain and best Coach that 1511 has had yet. He is attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for Electrical Engineering. He is currently interning at Philips Color Kinetics outside of Boston, MA.
   
2009 Rika Rika Lee - Rika has been one of our lead Scouting headmaster. She joined her freshman year in 2005. Her bright, enthusiastic energy is what has helped to excite not only herself, but the ones surrounding her. She has contributed not only her scouting data and knowledge of other teams, but has lead by example as one of 1511's team leaders. She is attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for Electrical Engineering with the grant she had received from them! She has interned at our main sponsor, Harris, and Toyota!
   
2009 Cristian Cristian Smith - Cris joined the team his Freshman year in 2005. He was a master at computers, which came in handy on our Webpage and Programming Subteams. He is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology.
   
2009 Brenton Brenton Wright - Brenton was one of our hands on mechanical kids that just loved to get his hands all greasy and not have a care in the world! He was also our primary Pilot this year for Lunacy. Transferring from another high school, we managed to pull him into robotics from an informational session in 2007! From then we've had him until graduation. He originally took part in FIRST Robotics with the Charles Finney High School - Falcons Robotics - Team 1405. He attended the Rochester Institute of Technology for Mechanical Engineering Technology and ROTC. He also attended Finger Lakes Community College for Engineering Science.
   
2009 Cuyler Cuyler McChesney - He was one of our main Mechanical subteam members with 3 years of experience on our team. He spent many long hours making sure our robot was built right! He currently attends the Monroe Community College.
   
2009 Sean Sean Kemp - Sean was on the team for 2 years and was part of the Electrical Subteam. He is currently a Pharmacy Technician here in Rochester.
   
2009 Nick Nicolas Jasak - Nic was on our team for 2 years and was part of the Programming and Electrical subteams. He is the first of our alumni to enter the military and is currently in the Marines!
   
2009 Collin Collin Sowinski - Collin was on the team for 3 years and was part of the Electrical and Animation subteams. He was also an unofficial team photographer with his amazing photography skills. He is currently attending Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute for Civil Engineering.

2009 Jess Jessica Butler - Jessica was a member of the team from her freshman year through her junior year.  She originally joined the team with friends, and was on the Flare subteam for her first year.  She soon found that she was interested in engineering and joined the electrical subteam to help out.  Her Junior year she was on pitcrew and part of the chairmans presentation team!  She is going back to school to be a children's advocate paralegal.
   
2007 Martin Martin O'Hern - Martin was our crazy inventor for a few years.
   
2009 Melanie Melanie Silvus - Melanie was a member of our team for a few years and had many different interests!  She was great at math and was always helping us "run the number"!  She was a member of our drive team in 2007!
   
2009 Dan Dan Williams - Dan joined us for his Junior year at PHS and while very busy with sports was always excited and helpful on the team!  He helped organize our first Applebees pancake breakfast, and was one of our lead scouters at competition.

2008 Jim Jim Bossert - Jim was a significant person to our team, as he was a Deaf member, it still showed us that anyone can really do Robotics. He was a helping hand programmer that often did his own things but back-tracked to help teach and learn from others. Effectively, he has helped us test several drivetrain programs. He is currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology where mentors all-Deaf rookie team 3126.
   
2008 Graeme Graeme Buckley - Graeme was the head team driver that always got it together and did his best for competitions. As much as he liked to laze around, he was a great contribution to the team as a whole. He studied Electrical Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is currently a Test Engineer at SCJ Associates in Rochester, NY.
   
2008 Gorilla Joe Pisanzio - Joe was our team mascot the Gorilla. He was a brilliant computer wiz at creating animations and could always make everyone have a good laugh. He obtained his degree in New Media Interactive Development at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
   
2008 Rajeev Rajeev Sharma - Rajeev made great contributions to our team through bright, excellent programming. He mostly worked on the Robot Controls system especially for the work of the XBox controls on Mach 1511. He is currently attending Carnegie Mellon for Computer Science.
   
2008 Steve Steven Wolf - Steve was our main Mechanical man alongside other team members. With his excessive knowledge within the mechanical field, he was able to assist our team greatly in the pits non-stop. Not stopping there, he was also a Student Leader, and Safety Captain. He has truly set a great example of excellency and success for further students to follow. He received his BS in Biomolecular Science at Clarkson University. He is currently attending the University of Maryland for his PhD Chemistry.
   
2008 Austn  Austin D. Quinn - Austin was our "Thunder Man." He was part of the mechanical pit crew. Austin has always kept us in high spirits to keep rumbling. He is currently a mentor on the team and will be doing the 2+2 program with Monroe Community College and RIT. He currently mentors our team!
   
2008 Randy Randy Zingo - Randy was our all around kid. He would know about the cheesiest stuff, but at the same time, you would have liked it. Randy worked a whole lots with CAD alongside Steve. He also worked with the mechanical team to assist our robots. Randy obtained his degree at SUNY Buffalo in Mechanical Engineering.

2008 Adam Adam Burns - Adam joined the team for its first year and was on the team for three full years and was an electrical wiz kid!  One of our pit crew members, he was always great entertainment and could always put a smile on your face! He will be interning at our main sponsor, Harris, in 2011.

2007 Stephan Stephan Chauvin - Stephan joined our team for the 2007 season and loved to contribute to building our robot.  He helped get us involved with the Intervol community service program.  He is attending the Rochester Institute of Technology.
   
2007 Mark Mark Mascadri - Mark was our senior team captain, and has been on the team since its inception.  First starting with us as a wound-up sophomore, with some hard work he grew to be an inspirational team leader.  One of the team's best presenters, a presenter for the Chairman's Award, a booming leader of team cheers, Mark will be missed by the team.  He attended SUNY Maritime for Engineering and has come back as a full-time mentor!
   
2007 Jackie Jackie Nielson - Jackie joined the team in our second year and has been an excited part of our team ever since.  Participating in everything from FLL to leadership, Jackie showed the team the importance of persistence and happiness.  She is attending Monroe Community College, and will be doing a 2+2 program with Rochester Institute of Technology.  She has returned to help the team as a mentor as well!

2007 Annie Annie Vongnaphone - Annie was with us for her junior year and was the head of the mechanical team. A wiz at math and with any tool, Annie could fix or find anything. She attended Monroe Community College towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and returned to the team as a mentor for a year!

 


2006 Alumni

2006 Lorien Lorien Lee - Lorien is attending Monroe Community College. Lorien joined us at the inception of the team in September 2004. She was part of the spirit subteam both years, and in the 2005-2006 year joined the Strategy/Drive Subteam. She was the subteam leader for the spirit subteam, and was our team captain! She was also selected to be on the drive team as the operator for our robot shooter, and built both the drivetrain and the operator controls. She will be staying with 1511 as a mentor while she attends college.
   
2006 Alex Alex Peach - Alex is attending RPI for Computer Engineering or Computer Science, possibly Animation. Alex also joined our team at its inception, and brought along his dad, a Harris Engineer, and his brother. Alex was our lead animator for both years and put in a lot of long hours to finish each years animation. He currently works at our main sponsor, Harris, as a Software Engineer in Advanced Technology.
   
2006 Ashley Ashley Cheney - She joined our team for the Buckeye and Championship competitions in 2005. Although traveling from Victor, she joined the Strategy/Drive subteam and was very active in building several parts of our robot. She worked very hard on our team's Chairman's Award and was selected as the drive team Coach. She obtained her BS in Electrical Engineering at Clarkson University. She is currently working as an Application Engineer at CADimensions, Inc. while she attends State University of New York at Plattsburgh for her MS in Leadership.
   
2006 Keith Keith Kearns - Keith was attending Monroe Community College for Computer Graphics after graduating a year early from PHS. Keith also joined our team at its inception. In his junior year, Keith joined the Strategy/Drive subteam and was selected as the team's human player for competition. He was also very active in building several parts of the robot during build season. He even returned as a mentor help out with the drive train! Sadly we lost Keith in February of 2009. 2006 Andrew Andrew Harlan - Andrew is attending Rochester Institute of Technology for Engineering. Andrew joined us after helping us set up our first 2005 Rochester Rally. He was part of the 2005-2006 Leadership and Drive Subteams. He and his family were great promotors of our team Patron Drive.

 


2005 Alumni

2005 Tommy Tommy Cavaliere- Tommy was one of our first seniors and was a huge help in putting together the electronics and the field for the Rally. At that Rally, Tommy showed his prowess for coaching and became our first student coach, tag-teaming the responsibility with Larry. Tommy coached the drive team to a regional win at the Greater Toronto Regional. Tommy is currently living in Austin, TX running his own video game business!
2005 Andy Andy Choi - Andy was with us in 1511's first year, and was often helpful with just about everything.  But we found his most amazing skill was in scouting.  He sat through the entire Toronto Regional scouting every single match with very accurate yet often hilarious comments!  His great scouting helped us make a pick list that helped several teams in alliance selection and ultimately helped us win the regional!

2005 Mir & Mirza

Mir Khabursky - Mir was one of our three founding seniors and was our team's first Treasurer and a part of the business team. Mir was our 2005 Human player and was around for nearly everything our team did. He helped build the robot and his positive attitude and huge smile was always a big encouragement to the team. He went to Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall of 2005 for business, and volunteered for the Finger Lakes Regional. He received his BS in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics and his MBA in Management and Marketing at the Rochester Inistitute of Technology.
 

Mirza Strujo (right above) - Mirza was our first Team Captain and a great driving force for our team. He was a great leader, and was involved in everything the team did. From business to pit crew, building our drivetrain to making posters for the Rally, Mirza did it all. He was always there to motivate the team, and even returned this past build season to psych up the new leadership. He attended Alfred University obtaining his BA in Geology (2009) and a Masters of Business Administration (2010). He currently works in Washington DC as a Geospatial Analyst at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
