About Homework Help
« on: October 03, 2006, 05:35:24 AM »

Thank you for all thepostings so far-

Can we set up a time on the forum where someone will be available to help with homework?  Even if it's an hour a night?  Could we even do this on Chief Delphi so everyone in First can get help?

If we did this on chief delphi we wouldn't have enough people to help

there are thousands of people on chief delphi

we don't have members to answer all the questions people would have

Nice idea though

Well considering right now no students are asking for help... I think it might be better to start on an as needed basis, and then if the volume/need increases we can do a set time.

Do you think they're comfortable asking?

Im not going to beg a kid to help them.  They need to learn to ask.  The team this year is about student leadership... students taking charge... if they cant ask for some simple help on their homework, on the forums, by an email or face to face... then they need to learn.  On 340's team the students run the show.  The mentors dont have to pull things out of them, they dont have to ask them if they have done their homework.  Josh asked me last night for help with a bio assignment.  Jackie asked me for help with math at the end of last year.  Others should follow.  Emails, instant messages and the forums aren't as scary as face to face.  But I dont see why a student would/should be afraid or ashamed to ask for help on a homework problem.  Heck, most kids I see coming out of college are more used to asking for help than struggling with a problem on their own for a while, because thats the easy way.

So- If you're looking for help, feel free to ask anyone on the team-  a mentor or another student.  Either one should be able to help you out, even if it's just to connect you with someone who knows the material a bit better than they do.

We're here to help! 8)
