Earlier this June, students and mentors virtually attended the 8th Annual National Advocacy Conference hosted by the Student Association for STEM Advocacy. On June 30th, we got to put our skills to use in meetings with staffers for six representatives. We encouraged them to support the Every Student Succeeds Act Title Four Part A. We are looking for increased funding to start new and support existing STEAM programs in underrepresented areas. We had the pleasure of speaking with Kai Vogel on behalf of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Sam Gottlieb on behalf of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Jessica Hagens-Jordan on behalf of Congressman Jim Himes, Beatrix Dalton on behalf of Senator Richard Blumenthal, Ebony Majette on behalf of Congressman Joe Morelle, and Beverly Hart on behalf of Representative Sean Maloney. We thank the representatives and their staffers for their past and continued support and we look forward to meeting with them in the future.
Thank you to our friends on FIRST Robotics Team 20 The Rocketeers and VEX 6277 The Harvey School for working with us!
