Mentor Leann here!
I wasn’t here for the first half of the day, but I’m sure we were productive. Thank you to Calvin’s grandmother for the bagels and donuts to wake us up in the morning! And thanks to Matt B.’s family for providing lunch (and a mid-afternoon snack for this blogger) of subs, chips, cookies, and fruit!
I came in time for our Integration Meeting where they discussed, in much detail, the design of the robot. The focus was on the drive train and the arm and manipulator. Detailed minutes are available in the Wiki. Thanks Mentor Cynette! However, Chief Delphi is down and it’s killing Mentor Cynette.
Ciana and Brianna and some other boys worked hard on the prototype for the gripper using FTC parts.
Matt M. and a few others worked in Inventor, refining the drive train while we await the arrival of the parts.
Team Captain Crystal and Mentor/Alumni Mark went over to Rochester STEM High School this morning to help out FIRST Team 73.
The field subteam has been working diligently on the towers. They ask for the safety of everyone not to cut through the wood shop when coming downstairs. Please go around the longer way and work off those Build Season meals!
The website team is working on getting our webcast posted on our front page for all the world to see!! They had a long conference call with Mentor Eric from Boston.
The Chairman’s team also met today and refined their topics to discuss in the essay. We assigned parts of the essay to each students to write. We will be meeting again in 2 weeks to go over the drafts of each student’s part and putting it together in a cohesive essay to be edited.
We had a delicious dinner of chicken cacciatore with pasta, vegetable soup, salad, and cupcakes from Mo’s family. It was all very yummy!
We’ve had a lot of fun watching the webcast from the other room with Inception Larry.
In other important news, the Steelers won their playoff game against the Ravens! 😀
