It is week Three already! :O
A very busy day!
We were joined for several hours in the morning and early afternoon by FIRST Team 73, from The Rochester STEM School. In case you are wondering:
“The Rochester STEM High School opened its doors this year to 200 9th grade students in the city of Rochester. STEM focuses on rigorous academic instruction that integrates project-based learning with an emphasis in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics across all academic courses. Students will have the opportunity to visit local companies and college campuses as they begin career exploration in STEM related fields. As students leave the 9th Grade Academy, they will embark on a journey in a career sequence in one of the following fields: Technology, Engineering, and Medical Sciences. We are actively seeking volunteers and partnership opportunities to work with our students and our school.”
The students spent time driving our older robots to get a feel for handling the controls, and hopefully picking up some other tips and helps for completing their robot design and build.
Lunch was pulled pork, provided by Alex W’s family (Parentors Sharon and Mike)
The afternoon was packed with the Integration Meeting, a Chairman’s Meeting and a strategy meeting. In between, students and mentors worked, worked, worked.
At some point the drive train frame went out to the welder (Thanks to Dave Drelick) and came back!
Dinner was a birthday celebration for Senior Mike H., with ham and potato soup and vegetable soup. And CAKE! Which was not a lie!
